Art B Disclosure
Daily Starters
Each day to start the class students will read the board and follow the instructions. Each day the starter task could be different so you must check daily.
Procedures & Disclosure statement​ 
Today students were introduced to the procedures and expectations of the classroom.  Each student was also given a survey to let me know more about them and their needs for this class.  Than we went over the disclosure statment and sent it home due on the 20th of Jan.  Lastly students took a tour of the room and had a scavenger hunt to find where everything was.

Book Binding 
Students learned how to bind a saddle stitch book binding.  Each student made two books for their sketchbooks in this class.  Than they labeled their books and numbered them.

Contour Line & Poetry
students will learn about contour line and how to draw in contour line.  Each student will than draw 3 objects in contour line using both external and internal contours.  Than students will learn how to write an ode poem.

How to draw and tape an image
Students will learn how to use what they learned last time to draw their own image on a large paper.  They will than learn how to tape the lines or use an X-acto knife to cut the tape to the desired shapes for air brushing, spray painting, or acrylic painting.

How to use An Air brush, spray paint, and acrylic paint for contour line art
Students will learn how to paint their taped off contour line piece.  Each student will use one of the above techniques in order to color their contour line art that they have taped off.

How to add the poem
Students will watch the demonstration on how to remove the tape after painting and how to add the poem to the negative space lines.  Each student will finish painting taping & painting today should be mostly done by the end of class.

Students will finish their work today.  Each student will fill out a rubric and reflection on their piece and turn it into the turn in box with the rubric and reflection attached.

Lino Block Designs 

Students learned the what a relief print was and how to design their own.  They were each given the options of designing their own designs, doing a positive and negative flip of a photo, or doing a reductive image.  Students spend the rest of the class drawing at least 3 ideas in their sketchbook and sending images to reference to Mrs. Francesconi   
February 6th Power Point
Lino Block Safety 
Students learned today the process of making a lino block relief print.  Each student passed off putting in a gouge tip.  Than they each took notes on safety and needed to pass the safety test to continue.  Many students began carving today after the carving demo.

Carving Day
Students will spend the day carving their lino blocks.  The blocks should be mostly carved by the end of class today.

Printing Day
Students will learn multiple printing techniques.  Each student will learn how to use a printing station, how to do a rainbow or gradient background print, how to print on one paper multiple times, and how to do a reductive print.

Relief Print Due Date
Students are to finish printing their prints today and turning them in with the rubric and reflection.  If the student had a more detailed lino carving they are not required to have as many prints.  If they have a simple design they should have more prints.  Each student will follow the rubric to determine their points.

Doodles For Google
Students will follow the packet provided to design a doodle for google.  The assignment is due at the end of class unless you wish to take it home and make it ready for the contest.  It is not a requirement to submit to the contest, but it is required to do the assignment to the best of your ability.  
Ogden Trails Network landscapes background
Students will learn how to divide up a landscape into it's background, middle ground, and foreground.  Students will then create their background in chalk than sprayed it.

Ogden Trails Network landscape middle ground 
Students will now color their middle ground using oil pastels.  Each student will practice how to use oil pastels in their book as a class.  Than they will create texture using oil pastels.
March 2nd Power Point

Students will now add the foreground of their image with acrylic paint.  We will have a demonstration on how to paint with acrylic paint different landscape sections.  Each student will spend today to finish their landscape.

Assignment #4 Fused Glass
Click the links below to for the digital copies of worksheets needed for this assignment.
1. Students will learn about composition and how to use the rule of thirds.  
2. Students will then learn how fused glass works.

3. Students will put together a non-objective piece of art with their pieces of glass.
4. The glass pieces will be fired.



What Is Art
Students will argue what is art.  Each student will be presented with evidence that help support their views on graffiti, Legos, and garbage being turned into art.  Than students will fill out an argumentative skeleton with their evidence to support their claim.  Once done they will use these evidences to argue with the class their beliefs.

Cultural self-Portrait with Weber State University
The students from Weber state have come to our school to have our students create cultural self-portraits for an installation at the Weber cultural art center being built now.  Each student will create a piece that they feel represents them and their cultural selves.  Once done they will be photographed and put on display at the cultural art center next school year.
Assignment #2 Two-point Perspective

1. Students fill out packet demonstrating their knowledge of one-point perspective and making inferences while following steps on how to draw two-point perspective.

2. Students begin two-point perspective drawing

    - Must have 8-10 boxes

    - Must have 6-8 cut ins

    - Must have 4-6 items related to theme

    - Must have boxes shaded

Assignment #3 Pacific Northwest Native American Animal Art
Click on the links below for information on this assignment.  
  1. Students drew 5 small sketches of animals native to Utah.
  2. Students selected 1 of these animals and drew a larger version.
  3. Students drew their animal in the Pacific Northwest Native American style         darkening the lines to be transferred.
  4. Once done with the rough draft students will paint their boards with Gesso, transfer their rough draft to board, and paint their animals with acrylic paint.  The painting should be turned in with a Rubric and an Artist Statement.

Assignment #8 Final Choice
Students use what they have learned this semester and create a piece that shows their abilities now that they have completed the class.  This is an independent piece that should be their best work.
